Project Overview
Client: Dell Technologies
Project: Landing Page for Developer API Marketplace
Role: UI Designer (Mobile Responsive Design & Prototyping)
Tools: Figma
Dell was enhancing its developer ecosystem by creating a Developer API marketplace. A centralized hub where developers could discover, explore, and integrate APIs. As part of this initiative, they needed to ensure that the landing page was fully optimized for mobile and tablet users. My role was to take the existing desktop design and translate it into responsive, user-friendly layouts for smaller screens, while maintaining brand consistency and usability.

The Problem
The original landing page had been designed primarily for desktop users. However, a significant portion of traffic was coming from mobile and tablet devices—especially developers exploring the marketplace while on the go. The desktop-focused layout resulted in:

-
Poor readability and touch accessibility on smaller screens
-
Broken layout structures on mobile
-
Low engagement with CTA buttons and key content on mobile
The goal was to deliver a seamless mobile and tablet experience that retained the original visual identity, prioritized content hierarchy, and improved usability.

The Process
I began by auditing the current desktop design and identifying layout patterns that needed adaptation for smaller breakpoints. Working closely with the dev team and product stakeholders, I mapped out mobile-first wireframes to restructure content for better scannability and tap interaction.

Key steps:
-
Breakdown of existing components to determine which elements needed reflowing, hiding, or reordering
-
Designing mobile and tablet layouts in Figma with clear grid systems and spacing to improve readability
-
Creating interactive prototypes for both breakpoints to test touch behavior and screen transitions
-
Iterative feedback loops with internal teams to fine-tune usability and visual consistency

Accessibility and performance were key considerations throughout, especially for mobile developers working in environments with limited connectivity.

The Solution
The final designs delivered a clean, responsive landing page experience that aligned with Dell’s branding while providing optimized usability for smaller devices.

Highlights:
-
Responsive hero section with simplified headline and CTA placement
-
Scalable components designed for flexible stacking and reflow
-
Optimized navigation with a collapsible menu for mobile
-
Prioritized information architecture to surface key content early
-
Prototypes handed off for development with full specs and annotations
Outcome
While final metrics were handled by the analytics team, early testing and stakeholder feedback highlighted:

-
Improved engagement from mobile users, with better visibility of CTAs
-
Faster load times and improved layout stability across breakpoints
-
Streamlined dev handoff thanks to detailed responsive prototypes and documentation
